I've always been a fiend for a good Manhattan. The warmth of a quality rye, the sweetness of Vermouth, a little brandy dessert in the cherries. Working at a bar that doubles as a coffee shop, I'm always looking for new ways to blend the two, which is where Mr. Black comes in. A little espresso and some punchy spice, and a late night pick-me-up became an iced coffee with all the right hits. I really prefer Far North's Roknar rye with this, as the cognac cask finish really rounds the drink out.

1 oz Mr Black Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur
 0.50 oz Rye Whiskey
 0.50 oz Sweet Vermouth
 0.50 oz Habanero Maple Syrup
 0.50 oz Espresso
 2 dashes Orange Bitters
 1 Egg White
 2 Brandied Black Cherries

Separate Egg White into shaker, discard yolk.

Add Maple syrup & stir until combined.

Add whiskey, Vermouth, Mr. Black, espresso, & bitters

Dry shake for 4-5 seconds

Add ice & whip shake until well-chilled

Strain into a martini glass & garnish with espresso beans, cherries, & ground cinammon

Habanero Maple Syrup

Bring 1 cup pure maple syrup & 1 habanero pepper (sliced and seeds removed) to a simmer in a saucepan. Cook for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let steep for another 10 minutes (or longer for more heat). Remove the cooked peppers and serve.
