You know the story of Jack, who sold his family's last cow for five Magic beans? We liked Jack's style so said goodbye to the family cow and acquired five magic beans for ourselves. The only difference is we mixed our magic beans into a cocktail to create something completely unique and delicious. Featuring the flavors of coffee, kopi luwak, vanilla, cacao, and tonka bean, we can assure you you've never had something as tantalizing as the Magic Beans Martini.
Prepare kopi luwak cold brew concentrate at least 24 hours in advance. Combine in a mason jar 1/3 cup ground kopi luwak coffee beans with 1.5 cups water. I used the Shangri-La brand available on Amazon. Let the jar rest at room temperature overnight. Then strain through a cheesecloth or nut milk bag. Strain a second time through a coffee filter to ensure small sediments are filtered out. Refrigerate until needed.
Prepare tonka bean syrup by combining 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar in a medium sauce pot. Warm the water and sugar to just below boiling (~185 degrees). Add 20 Tonka Beans and stir to dissolve the sugar. Tonka beans are available on Amazon and Ebay. Remove from the heat and let cool on the countertop for 4 hours. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve and discard the beans. Pour the syrup into a clean glass bottle and store in the refrigerator. Alternatively, Monin makes a tonka bean syrup available in the UK.
Prepare saline solution by combining 1 part kosher salt to 100 parts water. Store in dropper bottle.
Fill a mixing tin 2/3 full with ice.
Add ingredients to mixing glass.
Pour into mixing tin and shake.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Double-strain using the Hawthorne strainer and fine mesh strainer at the same time.
Garnish with a micro pea shoot speared through the stem with a cocktail pick. The pea shoot should stand straight up in the center of the cocktail as shown in the picture.
