Campari is one of my favorite ingredients and I love finding new things to do with it. I've tried combining it with Mr. Black in a few different ways because I find the bitter orange and bitter coffee go extremely well together. This iteration is my current favorite. Originally this recipe used Kirschwasser, a German cherry brandy, but it was a little overpowering flavor-wise so I tried out a bunch of other spirits and found that Bourbon worked the best for me.
Add the spirits to a mixing glass and stir with ice to chill.
Serve over big ice (ideally bigger than mine so you have a nicer washline!) in a double rocks glass.
Garnish with a lemon twist.
