As we move into the colder months, we all need a little something to warm the spirits. While Mr Black coffee liqueur is made using a cold brew process, it's perfect for hot cocktails as well. This recipe draws inspiration from the Italian tradition of amaro caldo ("hot amaro"), with the coffee flavor of Mr Black accented by notes of caramel, chocolate, vanilla, and orange.



 0.75 oz Mr Black Coffee Liqueur
 0.75 oz Amaro Averna
 0.50 tsp vanilla extract
 4 dashes Chocolate bitters(Scrappys)
 2.50 oz boiling water
 1 stick cinnamon
 1 orange twist



Pre-heat a small mug by filling it with boiling water and leaving it for at least 30 seconds (preferably 1 minute), then discarding.


Add the two liqueurs and vanilla extract to the mug then top with 2.5 oz (75 ml) boiling water.


Dash the chocolate bitters on top.


Cut a long orange twist. Express the twist by squeezing it and rubbing it around the rim,  then garnish with the twist wrapped around a cinnamon stick.


Tip: don't try to measure the boiling water with a metal jigger. It will get hot and you might burn yourself. The best way to do this is to measure 75g boiling water using a scale as you add it to the rest of the drink.
