This night cap’s incongruous juxtaposition of Mr. Black coffee, orange, and mint flavors coalesce so seamlessly it’s a wonder that more libations do not welcome the combination. The nose is heavily mentholated, and the first sip leaves a gripping and fresh cooling sensation on the palate. Simultaneously, the chocolate and Mr. Black coffee notes begin to evolve while holding on the tongue. After consumption, the smooth flavor of orange cream leaves a feeling of comfort and nostalgia.

1 oz Jamaican rum (Smith and Cross)
0.75 oz Mr Black Coffee Liqueur
 0.75 oz Fresh orange juice
 0.75 oz Heavy cream
0.50 oz Cream de cacao (Tempus Fugit)
 0.50 oz Branca Menta

Combine ingredients into a mixing glass

Add ice and shake hard for 10-15 seconds

Double strain into Nick and Nora glass

Garnish with grated dark chocolate and float one mint leaf in the center of glass

I’m glad you enjoyed it! The only thing better than one Hay Hitter is two Hay Hitters.

Love the use of Branca Menta with citrus, cream and coffee. Delicious.

An unsuspecting combination that surprisingly works really well together, I’m happy you liked it!
