I love a Junglebird, so I sought out to create a version with Mr Black since it plays well with Campari… until I found that it had been done in the form of the Blackbird by Stephen Kurpinsky (great cocktail btw).
I decided to instead take the rum, Campari, and Mr Black combo and make a stirred night-cap drink. The name comes from the opening line in “Blackbird” by the Beatles. I brought in the Allspice Dram and falernum to really highlight the spicy tropical notes in the cocktail.
Ingredients
1.50 oz Aged Rum (Bacardi 8 year)
1 oz Mr Black Coffee Liqueur
1 oz Campari
¼ oz Velvet Falernum (John D. Taylor’s)
¼ oz Allspice Dram (St. Elizabeth’s)
Directions

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled and diluted.

Strain and pour into a double rocks glass with a large block of ice.

Garnish with a maraschino cherry (Luxardo)
