I wanted to build a cocktail that enhanced some of the herbal and root-like notes in Mr. Black. I decided on the combination of absinthe and coffee. Much in the same way as the espresso tonic is resurfacing, I think espresso absinthe should make a return. The drink reminds me of early 20th century France, and so I think about vintage French adverts and critics having a drink to criticize art and culture (hence the name). I hope you enjoy!
