Inspired by Davide Olandi's Café di Riflessione, this bittersweet nightcap is the perfect way to end a day of exploring. The rich roasted coffee of Mr Black's is sweetened by the fragrant herbal anise of the absinthe blanche, and the Amaro Montenegro adds further floral layers and a light cucumber and orange bitterness. All of these aromatic components blossom with the hot water, filling the room. Serve with a bouquet of fresh herbs (I used sage, rosemary, and peppermint) and an orange twist.

30 ml Mr Black Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur
 15 ml Absinthe Blanche
 7.50 ml Amaro Montenegro
 45 ml Hot water

Add Mr Black Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur, absinthe blanche, and Amaro Montenegro to the large half of a shaker tin.

Add hot water to the small half of the shaker tin, then nestle the large half in the small half and stir to combine and heat the ingredients.

Pour into a heated insulated glass, tea cup, or mug, and add the hot water.

Express the orange twist over the top, then wrap around the bouquet of herbs, add the garnish, and serve.

Thank you! I thought a hot coffee cocktail without brewed coffee would be an interesting change of pace, and this turned out great despite its simplicity.
