Introducing the seductive, sweet, and spicy libation that is the Café de Aztec!
This smokey, spicy, chocolatey cocktail is inspired by a signature ice cream flavor at a local shop near me with cinnamon and cayenne. The addition of Mr. Black really brings out the earthiness of the mezcal, and all the goodness of the chocolate. The lime and orange add a lot of brightness and balance out all the other deep flavors.

Ingredients

 1 oz Mr Black Coffee Liqueur
 1 oz Mezcal(Vida)
 ½ oz Chilli Liqueur(Ancho Reyes)
 ½ oz Cremé de Cacao(Tempus Fugit)
 ¾ oz Cinnamon Syrup
 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
 2 dashes Cocoa Bitters(Aztec)
 1 dash Orange Bitters(Regan’s)

Directions

Combine ingredients in a shaker tin with ice and shake for 12-15 seconds.

Double strain into a margarita or double rocks glass with a large cube of ice.

Sprinkle with “Aztec Dust”:
1 part cayenne powder
2 parts ground cinnamon
3 parts shaved dark chocolate
(This will determine the spice level, add as desired)

Express the oils of a large orange peel and garnish with peel and dehydrated lime wheel.

Cinnamon Syrup

Ingredients:
1 cup filtered water
1 cup Demerara sugar
4 cinnamon sticks

Instructions:
Toast cinnamon with either a torch or skillet.
Break toasted cinnamon sticks and combine with sugar and water in a pot.
Heat until sugar is dissolved, and let cinnamon steep for 2-3 hours.
Strain and bottle.
