A complex and unique desert cocktail, Black Sunshine elevates the flavor notes of excellent coffee with a rich mouth feel, long evolution, and delightful citrus and burnt sugar aromas.



 2 oz Brown Butter Washed Cognac
 1.50 oz Mr Black Coffee Liqueur
 0.50 oz Orange Liqueur(Cointreau)
 0.25 oz Espresso
 1 Orange



1) In a saucepan, brown 4 oz high quality butter. Allow to cool (but not solidify). Pour into 16 oz cognac and whisk to combine. Leave at room temperature for about an hour. Freeze overnight. Strain through cheesecloth.


Cut a thin slice from an orange. Rub both sides in sugar. Place on a fireproof surface and heat with a brulee torch until the sugar is deeply caramelized. Place on rim of glass. (It'll stick for awhile but you can just drop it in the glass)


Add ingredients to a mixing glass and stir for 10-15 seconds.


Strain into a double rocks glass over a large ice cube.


Take a deep sniff, sip, and enjoy. Whenever you feel inclined eat the brulee'd orange slice (it's delicious).
